I’m not much of an HGTV fan anymore.  When they took Decorating Cents and Room by Room off their schedule, I pretty much quit watching their channel.  Yes…..I guess I do hold a bit of a grudge.  🙁   HOWEVER, recently I came across Flip or Flop and I’m hooked.  If you haven’t seen it, it’s about a young married couple, Tarek and Christina El Moussa, who flip properties for a living.

They have taken some of the grungiest houses and turned them into absolute gems.

I wanted to just take a quick minute to share with you something new on the website.  I have always been fascinated by all of the free printables that have been shared on Pinterest.  I wanted to create some free printables to share with you, but wanted them to be a little different from many already found on the web.  Each printable has been hand drawn in ink and handpainted or hand colored,

In this mixed media tutorial, I’ve used paper canvas as a base. I actually purchased this by accident when I was intending to purchase a new pad of watercolor paper.  Because I’ve never painted on this before, I’m learning as I go. I wanted this mixed media to be on watercolor paper, but decided to continue with this paper instead.

First, I used an old driver’s license that I’ve cut small slits in across one end.

Mixed Media on a Budget ~ When I was first bitten by the mixed media bug, I was a little overwhelmed with all of the “tools” used to create a mixed media painting. Stamp pads, stamps, distress inks, gelatos, stencils, mediums, heat tools, painted papers, commerical papers,…..the list goes on.  As with many art mediums, you can wrap up a ton of money in all of the goodies used to create. The first time I shopped for a few stamps and stencils,
